About Project
The project has been designed to provide valuable insights into the Georgian viniculture and Georgian winemaking technologies. We created this website as a solution to the increasing lack of online lectures and other Internet resources on the world’s oldest wine found in Georgia.
The website combines comprehensive wine knowledge with Qvevri winemaking expertise, which has become hugely popular recently. The project represents an online version of the book “Winemaker’s Diary” published in Georgia in 2018.
It offers ample and comprehensive information about Georgian winemaking history stretching back over 8000 years, including endemic Georgian vine varieties, distinct features of Qvevri and many other unique details.
The information is intended for tourists, for representatives of business and scientific communities, and for people who are interested in learning more about Georgian wine.
About Author
The author of the project, Mirian Nikoladze (a lawyer by profession), is from a traditional Georgian winemaking family.
Based on the research of relevant scientific literature and the experience gained through the practical family winemaking, he published the book “Winemaker’s Diary” in 2018, which was completely sold as a result of a keen interest in it.
Mirian Nikoladze is also a member of the Georgian Natural Wine Association and the owner of the family wine cellar “Mirianuli”, which has been producing biologically pure Qvevri wine since 2017 in a limited quantity (maximum 7000-10 000 bottles).
